The Lady's Not for Burning

It's random reading reccomendation time! For those of you who don't regularly read plays, it may seem odd to just read a play. But let me assure you, it can be quite rewarding and fulfilling. This reccomendation is just such a play. It is called The Lady's Not for Burning by Christopher Fry. It takes place in the 13th Century as a soldier, disillusioned with the world, requests to be hung by the officials of a town. Just as the officials are telling him why he can't be hung, a beautiful but odd young woman runs in being falsly accused of witchcraft. She is summarily condemned to death. While the officials are trying to decide what to do with them, they are now faced with a condemned woman who wants to live and a free man who wants to die. And then, of course, to complicate matters, they fall in love. The play is filled with beautiful poetry and wonderful humor. I heartily reccomend it.
