So about a year ago I was in Oregon performing a wedding. While there, one of my best friends growing up, John Dooley, and I made a series of ridiculous videos. His first mistake.

One of them was made at the vineyard where the wedding was performed. At the vineyard there was a speaker up in a tree that was broadcasting fake bird noises to keep other birds away from the grapes. It was ridiculously loud. He began joking about it to divert attention from all the jokes I was making about how he was dressed like a Republican. His second mistake.

Then we made this video in which he assumes the persona of a Republican candidate for office whose platform consists entirely of the fake bird matter:


His third mistake.

After the video was made I told him I was going to make sure it ended up on YouTube. He told me I wouldn't. His fourth mistake.

So I got home from the wedding and uploaded it on to YouTube and then forgot about it until yesterday. That's when I got an email from Dooley with the following message:

"Hey... Can you take the John W Dooley thing down off youtube... My fans are finding it... seriously... crazy Main-ers. I hate you!"

His fifth mistake.

Now before you wonder about his "fans," I should mention that he's not delusional, he's an opera singer. (Wait a sec... in that case he may well be delusional; most opera singers are...) At any rate, I googled "John Dooley" just to see what would happen and when I hit the video tab, the following page came up:

I laughed and laughed and laughed... and then I changed the name of the video to protect his reputation. (And if you knew his reputation, the fact that this video would hurt it says volumes...) As promised, Dooley, I'll remove the video completely in a few days.

So please, celebrate my friendship with Dooley by watching the video and laughing. His birthday is just around the corner, so we'll consider this my birthday present to him. Remind me to tell the story about a birthday gift I gave him in high school that involved hideously embarrassing pictures of him from elementary and middle school...
