I've never used illegal drugs, nor have I ever really been tempted to. (And let's be honest, with a mother like mine, that's a minor miracle!) I can't really say it was due to drug education programs in school though. I went through D.A.R.E. and the only thing my middle school self remembers is that the police officer was buxom and blonde. How did no one see that she might not have made the best spokesperson for a serious message to pubescent boys?
Anyhow, the newest drug education campaign is called "The Anti-Drug." I suppose it doesn't suck, but it is a bit vague. On the one hand, they say "Parents: They're the anti-drug." Really? Any parents? Kat, will you and Mr. Kat be my anti-drug?
Again, any questions? So, can my anti-drug be, "Where do babies come
from?"
But they also say that you need to come up with your own anti-drug. Well... okay. I'm up to the challenge.

10 Cachinnations
Too funny Cach!
Ironically, I wasn't allowed to watch the Smurfs when I was growing up because they used drugs or at least the mean guy did....at least that's what they told me. Mighty Mouse too...
I don't know who told my parents that, but they must have been smoking something...
Kat "The Anti-Drug"

Ha!
I watched lots of Smurfs growing up. That's why they're the anti-drug. Actually, my research has led me to believe that the Smurfs weren't on drugs, but were derivative of an old German myth about little dead people. Or something like that.
But no drugs. And that's what's important.

I was a smurf addict. In a way, I am still mesmorized by the smurfs. Especially.... Smurfet. Who's the dog in that picture? I thought he had a cat.
Smurf trivia:
Where did Smurf-et come from?

The devil.

Also, the leitmotif for Gargamel was the main theme from Liszt's piano concerto in Eb.
...Oh, I guess it is spelled "smurfette."
Close! on the devil answer.

Cool on the Liszt info. Didn't know that. Yes, I think I remember the origin of Smurfette from the series. Anyone else?
Anyone know where the name Azrael comes from?
How did this become Smurfs trivia? Had I but known, I'd have given them their own thread. Oh well, I guess so long as they're keeping us from doing drugs, they still qualify as the anti-drug!

Guilty.
I am trying not to study.

I think smurfette was the hot one. She was the 'buxom and blonde' one who was put there to reach out to blue pubescent boys!!!

wasn't azrael one of lucifer's names? i think i remember something from the movie 'se7en' when they were researching the ancient documents about satan and figuring out the main bad guy was a demon...
so yes, i sound like a horrible person by admitting i watched that demon movie.
but it was strangely fascinating.

Are you kidding?! Ashamed to adimit it? Se7en is easily one of the best made movies of the past 15 years! Is it disturbing? Certainly, but it is a brilliant film. It absolutely put Fincher on the map as a directorial master.
As for Azrael, that is actually one of the names for the Angel of Death. Not Lucifer himself, but the Angel of Death. (Sometimes, I've seen it used as a name for one of the Four Horsemen, and in Islamic tradition, Azrael is one of the Archangels, but really, all of those fit well together and come from the same tradition.) Azrael is regarded as an archangel who fell along with Lucifer. So there you go.
Still, when I think of Azrael, the first two things that come to mind are Gargamel's cat and Jason Lee from Dogma. Can't be helped.
