From ESPN.com as regards New England Patriots football player Asante Samuel:
"I'm not coming to camp," he told the newspaper. "I'm not showing up until the 10th week [of the season]. I feel unappreciated. The way they're treating me is just wrong."... Samuel has yet to sign the one-year, $7.79 million contract he was tendered when the Patriots franchised him, so he is technically not under contract and cannot be fined for missing minicamp.
Just a request: Can I please be unappreciated for $7.79 million? Does anyone actually feel appropriately appreciated at their job? Anyone? Where do I go to get $7.79 million worth of unappreciation?

I'd accept being disdained for $3 million a year.

I could handle being completely reviled for even ONE million a year.

I am already both of the foregoing for a considerable amount less.

Steve, you should have held out for more. Poor performance and disreputable actions are at an all-time premium in this country. I love the USA!
