Tanita and Her Lowered Expectations

Posted by Anonymous On 9:24 AM

Tanita thinks less of me these days. It's not that I've done anything wrong. She just always thought I was 28. You see, you can expect certain things out of a 28-year old. You expect them to be fit and trim. You can set a nice low target body fat percentage. Their general health and wellbeing is expected to be higher.

So imagine her surprise when I informed her that I was actually just a day away from 30! You could almost see her sag under the weight of such news.

She looks at me differently now. It's not that I lied to her - I didn't! I just never told her the truth. And in my defense, I told her I was 28 when we met. She should have been able to do the math for herself. But she didn't. She just kept on under the assumption that I was 28.

And, come on! Is 30 really so different from 28 or 29? Why should we start deciding that men decline at 30? Is there anything magical about turning 30? It's not like everyone on the streets can look at me and say, "Oh, gosh! He looked much better yesterday. He must have turned 30." So why should Tanita have such a deal with it? Why should she expect less of me now?

I can't help but feel betrayed. Hurt. Isolated. This is what I always feared: That people would no longer be impressed with me due to my youth. That they'd just file me away as "normal." That I wouldn't come to mind when they thought about the young and virile people they knew.

That's what's going on with Tanita. She looks at me differently. She doesn't expect as much. And it hurts.

Bitch.

  3. But lowered expectations are probably better than lewd comments.

"I can see up your shorts, big boy. You're making Tanita excited now."

  4. Beeki Said,

BTW, I was the one to inform Scott of her name! Every morning I say, "Ok, Tanita, be good to me." Then she gives me a reality check which makes me want to run away. But they say that people who weigh themselves regularly keep their weight down in the long run, so, here's to you, Tanita.

  5. Anonymous Said,

I like how in C-Ham's mind she's a large black woman too. That's how Beeki and I imagine her.

  6. If you're good to Tanita...

    ...Tanita's good to you.

You should get a pink feather boa to drape around her.

  7. A lot changes tomorrow, man. I hope you are getting it all in tonite. Savor it. Relish it. And, for as long as you can (a week at best, likely) remember it.

I don't know, it's what came out of my mind and it just sounded funny in my head.

Of course, make the at symbol, remove the spaces, and use an actual dot. I just don't want to type in my real email address because the government is out to get me.

Happy Birthday Cach! Whatever my husband says, you're not really very old at all.

And Beeki...you're perfect. Why would you ever need to weigh yourself?

Yes, and only a newbie to the 30's would question this.
