Bentz v'Arik

A google search for Bert and Ernie - don't judge me - led me to their Wikipedia entry.

My favorite part? The listing of their names in various other countries. The title of this post is Bert and Ernie in Hebrew. I like Yenik i Vlas (Russian), Edi ile Büdü (Turkish), and Anis w Badr (Arabic).

When I was a kid, they were my favorite Sesame Street characters. (By the way, Sesame Street in German is Sesamstraße - which is even funnier if you yell it with a cartoonish German accent.) Bert and Ernie have always been my favorite Sesame Street characters. Don't you judge me. When I was little, I couldn't pronounce their names properly and it apparently came out, "Bert and lllllllllllll'Ernie." (I also called motorcycles "pugas," so my Bert and Ernie pronunciation isn't that weird.)

Seriously, what's not funny about this:

Also nothing unfunny in this story about Bert and Osama bin Laden.

And my love for them led to this Bert and Ernie. And they're great too. Just thought I'd create a post about Bert and Ernie. The world's a better place now.

You love them and you know it.

4 Cachinnations

  1. Bert, from the US children's television series Sesame Street, is featuring alongside Osama Bin Laden on some anti-US posters in Bangladesh...

...But Sesame Workshop, which produces the show, said it was considering all legal avenues to prevent the misappropriation of Bert in the future...

Uh, yeah. Let's sue the followers of the guy who led the 9/11 attacks, to make them stop "misappropriating" Bert's image. That way, our courts could issue an order, or at the very least, a stern warning to these people. I'm sure they'll listen, because Bin Laden's followers wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or do anything which people might find offensive.

I love Bert and Ernie, our puppies! I am very concerned now that Bert is a sleeper cell and that she will soon begin trying to kill us with her cuteness...it's very possible! :)

Bert's laugh is a bit annoying. The dog not the puppet.

  4. Anonymous Said,

I don't think I ever put a valuation on the Sesame Street characters as a kid. I do remember liking that fishy skit, though. They're having fun and subtly teaching kids how to count to five at the same time. Bert's problem was that he was increasing the pitch of his voice instead of the volume. A common mistake.
