A Recent Conversation With My Wife

Beeki: I forget... Is it walk talk.. this is going to be on your blog, isn't it? Is it walk softly and carry a big stick? Or is it talk softly? I think it's walk.

Cach: ...

Beeki: I thought for the longest time it was talk, but that doesn't make sense because there's a big stick involved.

Cach: ...

Beeki: I'm glad I entertain you.

Cach: It's neither. It's speak softly...

Beeki: But that doesn't make any sense!

Cach: ...

Beeki: I got 95% of that right. It's just the first word. At least Fancypants gets me.

Cach: It's a rule of good diplomacy. You don't make big speeches or open threats and you back it up with implied physical force. The alternative, walking softly and carrying a big stick, would be like sneak attacking everyone. Teddy Roosevelt pioneered Big Stick Diplomacy.

Beeki: I find those kinds of people annoying. The kind who are all quiet but mean.

Cach: ...

Beeki: Shut up.

  2. Really? I guess I always thought it was "Hawk coffee and bury your figs quick."

Damn, I seriously need those Beltones...

  3. Anonymous Said,

Coincidentally, everyone send prayers and thoughts to Beeki tonight. She's casting her thesis show over the next few days and auditions begin tonight. For those of you near Wacko, she will be directing Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile at the end of April. If you're nearby, it will be well worth watching. More on that to follow obviously.

  5. Anonymous Said,

Oh, hell no! That's someone I made fun of last year. And now I need to take that photo down. My mother in law was afraid that people would think it was her and I assured her they wouldn't. Looks like I was wrong.

  6. Tracy Said,

It seemed a little out of character for her...the tattoo, not the sentiment. :)

  7. Who's playing Einstein?

'Cause you know, there was a chap who originated that role in Lapin Agile at Alma Mater U, and I hear he was dyno-MITE!

Can't think of his name, offhand...
