Life

Cachinnatees, please indulge and forgive this break from my nonsense.

I've had a lot on my mind lately. I've had my hands full. And I just may have grown up a little.

See... I've been wasting a lot of time recently. Beeki's been in rehearsal during the evenings and I've had more of them free than usual. So what have I done? Helpful items on my to-do list? No. Study? No. Read? No. Clean? No. Work out? No.

I farted around on the internet and played video games. I've just felt so tired and preoccupied that all I could do was sit and think.

And it's not like I was feeding my mind or body well. I wasn't sleeping enough. I was eating poorly. I was watching cable news. I was listening to inane talk radio. I was participating in discussions/arguments on the internet about theology and local politics. (Neither should ever be discussed on the internet. It is the worst possible place for them.)

And the adage is true: garbage in, garbage out.

So I'm trying to make changes now. Because I can and I must. I'm starting very simply. I pack a healthy lunch. I drink a full Nalgene bottle of water every day. I get in bed at a decent hour. I clean a little bit around the house or in the yard every day. I go to the gym. I listen to my books on my iPod while driving. I watch only films or shows about home and garden or history. I read my books and magazines.

I'm trying. A little at a time, I'm trying.

And now, it's past my bedtime. Hopefully the next time we meet, I'll be healthier, wealthier, and wiser. Or at least thinner and better rested.

  4. Totally feel for you on this, Cach.

I think we all get into ruts at times. Certain types of clutter and negative habits sneak into our lives, and have a way of feeding into more of the same. It builds up after a while, and it can take a lot of effort to make a major change of direction.

But making the change can be very freeing, on many different levels.
