Lately I've been getting some weird unsolicited input from strangers. Does this happen to you? When I lived up in New York City it happened all the time, but eventually you learned to tune out the crazy. But lately I've been getting it here in Waco. A few examples of "recent conversations" with strangers:
Strange geek in Best Buy: (Looking over my shoulder at the movies I had just taken off the shelf) That's a good movie, man.
Cach: (Shuffling away nervously) Uhh, yeah, it is.
Strange girl leaving church: Well... time to go home and check on my invalid mother!
Cach: ... ... (Walks away quickly)
Those are just two examples, but it feels like it's been happening more frequently lately. Anyone else? Is it a full moon or something?

6 Cachinnations
As I was waiting at the stoplight a few blocks from Eyrieville U, a strange, bearded man who "plays" a delapidated acoustic guitar on the corner randomly asked me if I needed directions.
I told him, "No, but I do need you to tune that guitar." And then I sped away, laughing heartily.

Cracking up...again.
You're so right. People do that in NY all the time. The other day we had just gotten some cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery and were chowing down on them at a street corner waiting for the light to change. A lady looked over at us, took a double take, and then started talking about how Magnolia Bakery cupcakes were the best ever and gave us all her reasons. It was awesome.

Maybe you could look at them and say something that only Jesus would say, even if it is untrue.
Like, "Yes it is a good movie, and that is not all you think is good... you should stop being unfaithful to your spouse, even though you think it feeeels good, my child."
Just make sure you add "my child" to the end of every response.

Well, I guess it's time to go back to see if anyone's been reading my funny blog! It's a hoot!
Stuff like that?

Is it that people are mentally unstable/crazy or just really lonely? I can imagine that loneliness would be really tough to take for people in NY, simply because there are so many people around, yet so few people anywhere who are willing to engage a stranger in an actual conversation. Plus, starting a conversation with a stranger can be awkward, especially for the less socially adept.
