Bert offers the following video as proof of how unbelievably out of touch the Republicans are with young people and minorities:

It actually hurt me to watch that. Hurt! Why dont you just sew my fingers together and then force a baseball glove onto my hand? Really that was just horrible.

  4. Douglas Said,

Yeah, Romney is pretty fake, but is this merely a GOP problem? Seems to me both parties are out of touch in general, especially when it comes to young people's concerns like how to pay for their own retirement when social security is bankrupt... at least young people who think about such things.

Regarding minorities, while most minority groups support Democrats more than Republicans, it is not a blissful marriage. Hispanics (for instance) are very split. They have been faithful Democrats since the New Deal, but have been switching parties in national elections in recent years. In states where Bush ran Spanish language advertisements, Hispanic turnout was up and Bush basically split the Hispanic vote with Kerry (47% to 52%). Bush even won New Mexico, which has the largest percentage of Hispanics of any state in the union (42%).

One video of one candidate does not an effective diatribe against an entire party make.

It does if you're a cocker spaniel named Bert. Just wait to see what Ernie has in store...

  7. Douglas Said,

Sorry for the earlier response. I forgot that it was a cocker spaniel and had come to expect more sophisticated views from you. Combine that with me being socially dense, and I probably came off as pretty rude. Mea culpa. I apologize.
