Funlap

Jen Dunlap is one badass artist. Sorry, that's just the only way to describe this girl. Not only is she among the most talented artists I've seen on the rise these days, she happens to be a good friend of Beekis. Hence, I know her as Frofro. (Not to be confused with Frou Frou, a.k.a. Imogen Heap. Also badass artist.) But you will know her as either Jen Dunlap or Funlap. She's a hot up-and-comer in NYC where she works nights as a DJ. (Yeah, she's that cool.) You've got to check out her site, but here are a few more examples of her work:

Pretty sweet, huh? Tell me what you think. What do you like in art? How do you display it in your crib? Do you display it in your crib?

Beeki and I love art and love having it in our home. If you like this, spread the word or buy one of her works. They're available through her gallery here. Enjoy!

  3. Sarah Said,

I'm not usually a fan of abstract art, but that's really cool!

I love it. Kind of reminds me of Kandinsky

  5. I like her stuff a lot. I went over to a couple of her web sites and did some browsing around. Very cool.

I have to admit that I feel I'm sorely lacking in this area of my art appreciation. I have always been involved so much in music, and because I have no talent for drawing or painting, have not really paid much attention to them.

The stuff she did for Loxsly in particular - totally and absolutely love that. I can see how it would be easy to acquire a taste for this abstract style of work, even if (as in my case) it means being open to new and exciting things.

I think (maybe I'm wrong, because I have absolutely no eye for room design and layout or color schemes) that a generous portion of her work would look smashing in a house done in either a very modern or avant-garde style, or even a tasteful retro motif.

I appreciate you highlighting this talented artist, Cach. I like being exposed to new things, and this is a great way for me to extend myself into new areas.

  6. FancyPants Said,

I love it, as well. The colors captivate me. I really like Jen's use and creation of color. And I like the juxtaposition of thin lines and then the wide areas of these colors. It makes me want to keep looking at the piece, kind of, mesmerizing, actually.
