So... I've got this intern at my theatre. He's just finishing college. So he's a child. We have decided that he hasn't earned a name yet, so we just refer to him as "Temp." He authored the enduring quote: "Enchanted is a great date movie... I saw it with my mom..."

So today we were killing 10 minutes at Best Buy while waiting for the theatre's brochure to be ready for pickup. And he made me feel old. We went to the music section. I will never again do that with anyone born after 1986. Here's what happened:

Cach: (Examining the N.E.R.D. album) Oh, hey, I heard this was a good album.

Temp: Yeah, it's pretty good.

Cach: I'll have to check it out. They're the group with Pharrell (pronounced "feral.")

Temp: You mean Pharrell? (Pronounced... correctly... fuh-rell)

Cach: Uhhh... yeah... Pharrell... So that's how you pronounce it, huh?

Temp: Uh... yeah.

Cach: Okay, then.

Temp: (Picking up the Duffy album) Oh, I heard this was good too.

Cach: Is that like one of the Duff people?

Temp: Duff people?

Cach: Yeah, like Hillary or... who's the other one? Haley?

Temp: Umm... no.

Cach: Really? I just thought she changed her name or something.

Temp: Who?

Cach: One of the Duffs. They're the same person in my head.

Temp: No, it's someone different.

Cach: Are you sure? I really thought it was just like, you know, Duff/Duffy. Like a nickname or something.

Temp: No, it's definitely not one of the Duffs.

Cach: Oh... ... ... Okay, I bet the brochures are ready now. Let's go.
